My Personal Page
Who am I?
My name is John Lavoie. I am from Beverly, Massachusetts. Last year I graduated from Beverly High School, and am now attending Ithaca College, in Ithaca, New York. If you don't know where Ithaca is, it's near the center of New York State. That means that I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere.
I am currently an Exploratory Major, and a music minor. That means that I wasn't good enough to get in as a major here. But I'm studying with the Trombone proffessor, and because he's on sabbatical this semseter, I'm studying with Fred Boyd, of the Syracuse Symphony.
I play the trombone. More specificaly, I play the bass trombone, or at least I try. I just got a brand new Yamaha 613H. It has a .563 bore, a nine and a half inch bell, and two rotary valves, in the keys of F and Eb or D. I love it.
What do I do for fun?
Music!
When I'm not practicing or surfing the web, there is something to do here at Ithaca College. Famous guests such as Libby Larsen, Tori Amos and Jon Nakamatsu just to name a few, and those are only the ones that have come here in the first half of my first semester!
This is the music building here. They are almost done with construction that will DOUBLE it's size!
Want to know what's going on here? Check out the Concert Schedule.
Other Fun Stuff
Dungeons & Dragons is fun, if you are playing with the right people.
Some things to consider that will greatly enhance your fun.
  • The goal doesn't have to be to run around and kill everything.
  • Roleplay!
  • Try playing a character with weakensses. It is more challenging, and much more rewarding.
  • Got any more suggestions?
My Friend's Pages
Aaron has a kickin' homepage. Check it out. In case you can't tell, he likes drum and bugle corps. His site is rather ecclectic. Including a chat room, an instrumental jokes page, and some quotes to live by.
Jay's page isn't quite done yet, but you can visit it to check out what he's got planned. He's got some nice music.
Ranaghar's page is cool. He's got some cool art.
Nellie got me interested in Redemption, through her site. Thanks Nellie! I like this site a lot, it's got spooky graphics and music.
Places to Visit
My hometown. Beverly is located about 20 miles north of Boston. It has a lot of history to it. Founded in 1626 and birthplace of the American Navy, just to name a few.
The Beverly High School Library has it's own site. It's not much to look at, but there's a lot of info there. If you have Mr. Kelleher, this page is a must!
Buy a CD!
Classical music really enhances your life. Even if you don't like it too much, you should still be exposed to some of the greats. Live performances are better, but the next best thing is a recording. For a truly great experience, try following a score while listening to one of Beethoven's Symphonies.
